The Walk

How fit do I have to be for this walk?

You should be comfortable with walking at your own pace for four to five hours with a daypack containing food, water and waterproofs. You will need to carry your own gear on the train from Glasgow to Corrour, and then a further one mile to the youth hostel.

There will be one guided walk, which will go at the pace of the slowest walker with breaks as needed. If possible, we will attempt an ascent of Beinn Na Lap. Although no Scottish mountains are to be underestimated, this is generally considered a safe and straightforward ascent with minimal exposure and no technical difficulty, assuming adequate conditions. You must follow the directions of the qualified Mountain Leader both IC and OOC, including turning back if instructed.

Can I come to this larp and not go on the walk?

No. The walk is a key part of the event and all participants must take part. We will tailor it to the overall fitness of the group and will move at the pace of the slowest walker with breaks as appropriate.

Accessibility

We are aware that some of the design decisions we have taken in writing this larp renders it inaccessible to some people. We are currently planning a more accessible run of Dark and Lonely in a less isolated venue without the mountain ascent, with increased use of metatechniques to build atmosphere and uncover the game’s secrets in a primarily indoor environment.
