‘The Clyde has drained those glens, not of their waters only, but of men.’
Neil Munro
The Hook:
The year is 1996. Ossian Films, a moderate sized production company with a proven track record in UK documentary film-making, has sent a group of employees to make a documentary set in the Scottish Highlands, about the history of the land and its changing use through time. The players are the second unit film crew, presenter, producer and support crew, arriving a few days after the first unit in the expectation of finding the scenography complete, ready for them to begin their own work.
But as the sun sets over the West Highlands, and the last train pulls away from the station, what they find there is very different indeed…
What sort of horror is this event likely to contain?
This game is likely to involve darkness, isolation, use of sound and lighting effects to create atmosphere and threat, and a steadily building sense of fear. There may be jump scares, body horror, existential dread and gore!
Is this a combat event?
Not in the traditional sense. There will be no monsters to fight, rubber weapons to wield or battles to win. There may be prop weapons at the game, and it’s possible that heightened tensions will bring characters to blows. We will workshop and use calibration techniques to facilitate conflict scenes.
Is this a systemless larp?
Pretty much, yes. There’s no hit points, skills or mechanics to worry about. Instead, we trust you to act as your characters would, roleplay skills they would have and react to injury in a realistic fashion. If in doubt, crew are available to help.
The Mixing Desk Of Larp
The mixing desk of larp is a useful tool that allows organisers to show their intentions in game designs using a variety of ‘sliders’, as below. We intend for this game to be non-transparent, with discreet mechanics and metatechniques, aiming for a fully immersive WYSIWYG environment.

Yes, but what will we actually be doing?
Exploring a new area, uncovering a mystery, climbing a mountain/having a long hike, finding out each others’ secrets, entering a state of desperation, fracturing and betraying each other, struggling to maintain your sanity and life in a vast and uncaring universe. You know. The usual weekend stuff.
